Created to be a personal project to push the limits of my technical design abilities, this laser engraved map was created based on the fantasy realm of Lord of the Rings.

Due to the extreme technical nature of laser engraving, over 26,000 vector points had to be meticulously pen tooled by hand so the design could be properly translated for the laser. Once all vector points had been established, the file was converted for engraving.

For the laser engraving machine, everything had to be properly calibrated to the exact specifics of both the size and material of the final piece. Once all preparations had been made, the map itself was engraved into wood. It was then stained, and polished for display.
